FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, in particular to a system, a method for monitoring a heart rate and a machine-readable medium configured for a computer to perform steps of a method for monitoring heart rate. Heart rate monitoring system comprises at least one primary heart rate optical sensor (110), model unit (132) and processing unit (131). Primary heart rate optical sensor (110) measures or determines the user's heart rate and outputs the output signal (HR). Output signal (HR) is based on measured heart rate and artifacts. Model unit (132) estimates or predicts the user's heart rate (HRM) based on the model stored in model unit (132), and information received from at least one secondary sensor (120). Secondary sensor (120) is configured to measure at least one physiological parameter affecting the user's heart rate. Physiological parameters are the user's breath, the speed of the user’s movement, user acceleration, user's skin moisture, user height above sea level, and / or user temperature. Processing unit (131) is designed to correlate the output signals (HR) received from primary heart rate optical sensor (110) with the estimated or predicted heart rate (HRM) received from model unit (132) to separate the measured heart rates from the artifacts. Method is carried out using a heart rate monitoring system. Computer-readable medium contains program code instructions configured to perform the method steps by a computer when the computer program is executed by the computer controlling heart rate monitoring system (100).
EFFECT: achieving improved accuracy and more reliable monitoring of the user's actual heart rate.
