FIELD: image forming devices.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of displays. Totally internally reflective image display comprises front and rear assemblies, a low-refractive medium in the free gap, a number of positively and negatively charged particles dispersed having electrophoretic mobility, dispersed in the low refractive medium. Front assembly has a front plate, a front electrode and a dielectric layer, wherein the front electrode is located between the front plate and the dielectric layer, and the front plate further comprises at least one convex protrusion. Rear assembly forms a free gap with the front assembly, wherein the rear assembly has having a backplane and a rear electrode, and the rear electrode is opposite the dielectric layer.
EFFECT: display provides DC balance and compatibility with conventional electronic excitation devices.
