FIELD: optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electro-optical displays containing encapsulated electro-optical media. Electrooptical medium contains a continuous phase containing a binder and a dispersed phase containing an electrooptic material. Binder contains styrene-isobutylene-styrene block copolymers and has Young's modulus of less than 25 MPa. Electrooptic material contains a plurality of charged particles dispersed in a suspending fluid medium encapsulated inside the capsules and capable of moving through the capsules when an electric field is applied to the suspending fluid medium.
EFFECT: invention increases elasticity of electronics, delocalisation of stresses and eliminates risk of rupture of encapsulated material.
