FIELD: electro-optical display devices.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for actuation electro-optical display devices. A method for actuation pixels of an electrophoretic display containing particles of four types, where the particles of the first type and particles of the third type are positively charged, and the particles of the second type and particles of the fourth type are negatively charged, includes the following stages: (i) applying the first actuation voltage to the pixel of the electrophoretic display during the first time interval with the first amplitude for actuation the pixel with its transfer to the state of the color of the particles of the fourth type on the observed side; and (ii) supplying a second actuation voltage, opposite to the first actuation voltage, and with a second amplitude less than the first amplitude, to an electrophoretic display pixel for a second time interval to excite particles of the second type with their displacement towards the unobserved side.
EFFECT: invention improves the brightness and contrast of the image.
