SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of driving electrooptical display devices. Excitation method for exciting a display comprising an electrophoretic material with coloured pigment dye particles of at least one type, wherein this method comprises: supplying at least one pair of pulses for resetting to initial state of coloured pigment dye particles of at least one type; supplying a dividing pulse, wherein the dividing pulse has a constant amplitude and a constant negative polarity; and supplying a second pair of pulses to reset the coloured pigment dye particles of at least one type.
EFFECT: obtaining brighter colours.
