FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the internal combustion engines. Disclosed are methods and systems for controlling the amount of water injected upstream of several groups of cylinders based on a certain non-uniform distribution of water among groups of cylinders during a water injection event. In one example, a method of injecting water into different engine cylinder groups may include injecting a first amount of water upstream of a first group of cylinders and injecting another second amount of water upstream of a second group of cylinders based on operating conditions of the respective groups of cylinders. Besides, the method may include adjustment of water injection into different groups of cylinders and engine operation parameters in response to evaporation and/or condensation of water portion.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to reduce non-uniformity of water distribution between engine cylinders, which allows to reduce probability of detonation in engine and improvement of engine performance.
