FIRING MEMBER RETRACTION DEVICES FOR POWERED SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC A61B17/72

Abstract RU 2678363 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment, namely to surgical cutting and stapling instruments. In the method, the surgical instrument comprises a firing member assembly, a drive unit, a retraction assembly, a locking means and a housing. Said firing member assembly includes a portion secured for selective axial movement in the distal and proximal directions. Said drive unit contains a motor and a gear assembly. Said motor includes a motor shaft. Above gear assembly is drivingly coupled to the motor shaft and includes an output shaft assembly adapted to interact with the firing member assembly so that when the motor shaft is rotated in the first rotary direction, a portion of the firing member assembly is driven axially in the distal direction, and when the motor shaft turns in the second direction of rotation, the portion of the firing member assembly is driven axially in the proximal direction. Said retraction assembly interacts with the firing member assembly to manually apply other rotational motions to the firing member assembly in the second direction of rotation when the motor is deactivated. Above locking means interacts with the retraction assembly and the drive unit for preventing transfer of the other rotary motions to the motor shaft during operation of the retraction assembly, while the gear assembly remains drivingly coupled to the motor shaft. Said motor includes a motor housing. Above gear assembly includes a gearbox housing that is connected to the motor housing without movement. Said motor housing and the gearbox housing are fixed in a single block inside the housing to rotate relative to it when other rotational motions are applied to the firing member assembly. In the second embodiment, the surgical instrument comprises the aforementioned firing member assembly, drive unit, retraction assembly, locking means and housing. Said gear assembly comprises a gearbox housing, a gear assembly, and a lockable ring gear. In the third embodiment, the surgical instrument comprises a housing, a firing member assembly and a drive unit. Said drive unit contains a motor and gearbox. Said gearbox includes a gearbox housing, a gear assembly, a retraction assembly, and a locking means. In the fourth embodiment, the surgical instrument comprises a housing, a firing member assembly, and a drive unit that is rotatably mounted inside the housing. Said drive unit contains a motor and gearbox. Said gearbox includes a gearbox housing, a gear unit, a retraction unit configured to selectively retract a starting rod without the aid of the motor, and a locking assembly that is moved between the locked position and the unlocked position when the retraction assembly is actuated. In the fifth embodiment, the surgical instrument comprises a housing, a firing member assembly and a drive unit. Said drive unit contains a motor and gearbox. Said gearbox includes a gearbox housing, a gear transmission unit, and a pull-in means for retracting the starting rod without the aid of the motor and a locking means for preventing rotation of the motor housing and the gear housing relative to the housing when the locking means is in the locked position. Group of inventions is characterized by devices for retracting the firing member for powered surgical instruments.

EFFECT: firing member retraction devices for powered surgical instruments are proposed.
