FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment, specifically to surgical cutting and stapling instruments and staple cartridges used therein, which are configured to cut and staple tissue. End effector for use with a surgical instrument, wherein the end effector comprises a distal end, a proximal connection portion, a first jaw, a second jaw, at least one sensor, a first indicator, a second indicator, a third indicator. Proximal connection portion is configured to attach the end effector to the surgical instrument. Second jaw is movable relative to the first jaw. Second jaw is movable between an open position, a partially closed position and a closed position. At least one sensor is configured to detect the position of the second jaw. First indicator is configured to indicate the location of the second jaw in open position. Second indicator is configured to indicate the location of the second jaw in a partially closed position. Third indicator is configured to indicate the location of the second jaw in a closed position. First indicator, second indicator and third indicator are distally located in relation to the proximal connection portion and are configured to indicate the position of the second jaw when it cannot be seen. Surgical instrument system comprises a surgical instrument and said end effector.
EFFECT: group of inventions is characterised by indicators which serve for improved feedback indicating the position of the jaw when it can not be seen by an endoscope.
