END EFFECTOR DETECTION SYSTEMS FOR SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC A61B17/68 A61B17/72

Abstract RU 2685463 C2

FIELD: medical equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medical equipment, namely to an end effector detection system for surgical instruments. Surgical instrument system for stapling tissue comprises a surgical instrument and a first end effector. Surgical instrument comprises trigger, motor and accumulator. Engine is configured to actuate the firing member. Accumulator is configured to supply power to engine. First end effector is configured to be attached to the surgical instrument. First end effector contains the first set of stored data of the first set of parameters of the end effector related to the first end effector. Surgical instrument is configured to determine a first set of stored data and to enter an operating state after the first set of stored data is determined. Working state includes limitation of power supplied by accumulator to engine up to the first power. Surgical instrument is configured to enter the operating mode by default if the surgical instrument is unable to determine said first set of stored data. Default operating mode comprises limiting the power supplied to the motor by the battery to the default power, wherein the default power is less than the first power.

EFFECT: invention is characterized by reduced risk of end effector damage.
