FIELD: medical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment, specifically to electrically powered surgical cutting and stapling instruments and staples used therein, which are configured for cutting and stapling tissue with staples. Surgical instrument comprises a shaft, an end effector and a housing. End effector extends in a distal direction from the shaft. Body extends in the proximal direction from the shaft. Housing comprises a motor, a main power supply, an auxiliary power supply and a controller. Engine is configured to generate at least one movement for actuation of end effector. Main power source is configured to supply main power to actuate surgical instrument. Main power source is made with possibility of disconnection from the housing. Auxiliary power source is configured to supply auxiliary power to actuate the surgical instrument when the main power supply is disconnected from the body. Controller is made with possibility of diagnostic check, and failure of this check leads to engine locking. In the second embodiment, the surgical instrument comprises said shaft, end effector and housing. End effector comprises an anvil, a cassette and a cutting element. Cassette includes staples. Cutting element is movable to cut the fabric caught between the support and the cassette. Housing comprises above mentioned engine, main power supply, auxiliary power supply and controller. Motor is configured to generate at least one movement to move the cutting element between the proximal position and the distal position. Main power supply is configured to supply main power to drive the engine. Main power source is made with possibility of disconnection from the housing. Auxiliary power supply is configured to supply auxiliary power to drive the engine when the main power supply is disconnected from the body. Auxiliary power supply source is configured to supply auxiliary power to drive the motor with the cutting element retracting to the proximal position. Power supply system for supplying power to the surgical instrument includes an end effector and a motor configured to generate at least one movement for actuating the end effector, the power supply system comprising a main power supply, an auxiliary power supply and a power control circuit. Main power source is configured to supply main power to actuate surgical instrument. Main power source is arranged with the possibility of disconnection from the surgical instrument. Auxiliary power supply source is configured to supply auxiliary power to actuate the surgical instrument with disconnection of the main power supply from the surgical instrument. Auxiliary power supply source is rechargeable. Main power source is configured to charge auxiliary power supply. Electric power control circuit is configured to selectively supply main power from main power source and auxiliary power supply from auxiliary power supply to actuate surgical instrument. Control circuit comprises a controller configured to carry out a diagnostic test, wherein failure of said check leads to engine locking.
EFFECT: group of inventions is characterized by engine blocking in case the surgical instrument has been subjected to a temperature exceeding permissible value.
