Abstract RU 2693674 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medical equipment, namely to a surgical instrument. Said surgical instrument comprises a first component, a second component, a trigger element, a trigger mechanism, a trigger safety device and a controller. Said first component contains a first connecting portion. Said second component comprises a second connecting portion. Said second connecting portion is configured to engage with the first connecting portion in order to connect the second component to the first component. Said first component is a surgical stapling instrument, and the second component is a cartridge with staples. Said trigger mechanism is designed to move forward the trigger element. Said controller is configured to determine whether the second component is correctly connected to the first component. Further, the controller is designed with the ability to activate the trigger safety device to prevent the activation of the trigger mechanism, in case the controller determines that the second component is incorrectly connected to the first component, and indicate to the user of the surgical instrument that the staple cartridge is not connected to the surgical stapler.

EFFECT: invention is characterized by having a controller configured to electronically activate the trigger safety device to prevent the activation of the trigger mechanism if the controller determines that the second component is incorrectly connected to the first component.
