SUBSTANCE: this invention relates to a fuel assembly for a fast neutron nuclear reactor with liquid metal cooling, namely liquid sodium. Assembly for a nuclear reactor, namely a sodium cooled fast neutron reactor, includes a housing with a longitudinal axis X, wherein each major side of the housing contains in its central part a gasket for spacing from the adjacent assembly having a protruding outer part, which on the inner side limits a notch containing no material inside the housing. In this case, the assembly further comprises a reinforcing sleeve formed by a hollow tube, made with the possibility of passage through it of the reactor coolant, inserted and held inside the housing and located opposite the gaskets so that it forms a cavity with each of them.
EFFECT: ensuring the prevention of a rapid increase in power, which can lead to an accident with the melting of the core.
