FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of powder metallurgy, in particular, to methods for modifying aluminum powders. Aluminum powder is impregnated with a modifier, which is a gel obtained by dissolving iron formate of composition Fe(HCOO)2·2H2O in a mixture of distilled water and glycerin, taken in a ratio of 1:25, or basic iron formate of Fe(OH)(HCOO)2 composition in ethylene glycol monomethyl ether, at a temperature of 80 °C. Ratio of aluminum powder (g):gel (ml) is 1.5–2.5:1. Resulting mass is dried at a temperature of 100–150 °C and calcined at a temperature of 300–350 °C.
EFFECT: degree of completeness of combustion is increased and the temperature of the start of combustion decreases when heated in air.
