Method of displaying a fuel economy reading of a vehicle engine includes steps in which, when a vehicle undergoes a positive change of the square of vehicle speed greater than a threshold value and / or a positive change in altitude greater than an altitude threshold, determining the flow of fuel due to the stored energy of the vehicle, subtracting the intensity of the flow of fuel, determined under steady-state driving conditions, from the existing intensity of the flow of fuel, determining the conversion factor for the stored energy of the vehicle, which is directly proportional to the determined fuel flow. Fuel economy readings are adjusted for the determined conversion factor and the adjusted fuel economy reading is displayed to the vehicle driver.
EFFECT: improved safety of controlling an autonomous vehicle.
