COMPOSITIONS AND USES OF ANTIMICROBIAL MATERIALS WITH TISSUE-COMPATIBLE PROPERTIES Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC A61K9/08 A61K38/16 A61K47/30 A61P31/04

Abstract RU 2680959 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine, in particular to aqueous compositions for prevention, inhibition or treatment of infections. Said composition comprises a mixture containing at least one synthetic cationic polypeptide with antimicrobial activity and a second pharmaceutically-acceptable polymer that is not a synthetic cationic polypeptide, wherein the amount of both at least one synthetic cationic polypeptide and the second pharmaceutically acceptable polymer is at least about 100 mcg/ml, based on the total volume of the aqueous composition, moreover, the amount of the second pharmaceutically acceptable polymer is at least about 10 % by weight, based on the weight of at least one synthetic cationic polypeptide, while at least one synthetic cationic polypeptide contains a segment having a chain length of at least 40 amino acid residues, wherein the synthetic cationic polypeptide and the second pharmaceutically acceptable polymer are mutually miscible in water, and wherein the composition is characterized by improved antimicrobial barrier activity compared to one synthetic cationic polypeptide having antimicrobial activity, or compared to the second pharmaceutically acceptable polymer that is not a synthetic cationic polypeptide. Also described is a method for preventing or treating an infection and using an aqueous composition for preventing or treating an infection.

EFFECT: group of inventions provides antimicrobial barriers to protect skin from microbial invasion, formation of a stable physical barrier and restoration of the integrity of damaged skin.
