FIELD: control systems.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a control system for a plurality of pumps, in particular a plurality of variable speed rotary pump centrifugal submersible pumps. Control system (5) comprises control module (7), processing module (9), communication interface (11) and storage module (13). Module (7) is configured to start configuration cycle of zero flow rate by increasing speed of at least one pump in addition to subset j of the i pumps of multi-pump system 3, operating at speed ωj, until the communication interface receives a signal change indicating that at least one pump has started to affect the total flow rate, or starting the zero flow rate configuration cycle by reducing the speed of at least one subset j of the i pumps from system 3 pumps running at a rate ωj, until the communication interface receives a signal change indicating that at least one pump has stopped affecting the total flow rate.
EFFECT: group of inventions provides a control system and method for determining the pump characteristic and/or power consumption at zero flow rate in the absence of information on characteristics of the pump provided by the pump manufacturer.
