FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the engine building. Disclosed is a method for an engine in which, by means of a controller, an engine cylinder mode range is provided on a cylinder engagement diagram, wherein said engine cylinder mode range is defined by a boundary. At the same time within the said boundary the actual total number of modes of the engine cylinders, which includes the included cylinders, is increased in comparison with the area outside the specified boundary, in which all cylinders are connected. Actual total number of engine cylinder modes includes selected cylinder ignition circuits and/or selected parts of cylinder ignition events during preset number of engine cycles. Said boundary is controlled by controller in response to change in weight of vehicle. Engine mode modes are entered in response to engine or engine rpm variation. Engine cylinders are switched on and off in accordance with selected cylinder ignition circuits and/or selected parts of cylinder ignition events during preset number of engine cycles in response to engine or engine rpm variation. Also disclosed is engine system.
EFFECT: technical result consists in reduction of engine vibration at actuation and disconnection of cylinders.
