FIELD: chemical industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing quinolines (quinoline, 2- and 4-methylquinolines), which consists in the interaction of ethylene glycol with aniline in the presence of granular zeolite ZnCl 2 / H-ZSM-5mmm of a high degree of crystallinity, having a hierarchical (micro-meso-macroporous) structure, at 280-400 °C, atmospheric pressure, volumetric velocity feed of raw materials (w) 1-5 h-1, molar ratio of aniline:ethylene glycol equal to 1:2-3, ethylene glycol is fed into the reactor as a 20% solution in ethanol.

EFFECT: present invention provides a method for the production of quinolines (quinoline, 2- and 4-methylquinolines), which enables to synthesize 2- and 4-methylquinolines, quinoline efficiently, with high aniline conversion.
