FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing 2,3-dialkylquinolines by reacting aniline with aldehydes in the presence of a zeolite based catalyst, wherein catalyst used is zeolite Y in H-form, reaction of aniline with aliphatic aldehydes (propionic or oily) is carried out in presence of 10–20 wt% catalyst in molar ratio of aniline:aldehyde 1:1–2 in autoclave at 70–160 °C for 6 hours in a solution of dimethylformamide.

EFFECT: method simplifies synthesis of quinoline derivatives and reduces energy and material consumption of the heterocyclisation process.
