FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, particularly to production of nickel-titanium alloys in vacuum induction melting furnaces with cold crucible. Method comprises laying of prepared charge, at that to lower part of crucible is placed about 20 % of height, then uniformly alternating nickel plates and titanium tablets, after filling 50 % of volume of charge between nickel plates and titanium tablets powder of alloying elements is dispersed, evacuation of melting chamber is performed, melting is carried out in several stages, including degassing with slow heating of charge and mold at low capacity of 20 % of maximum, then heating charge with two-stage power increase first to 30–35 % and after 3 minutes to 60 %, and after exothermal reaction between titanium and nickel, melt bubbling is carried out for 3–5 minutes by smooth increase of power to maximum, melt is poured at maximum power into mold heated to 550–600 °C, casting is held under vacuum at temperature of up to 600 °C or lower for about 2.5 hours and the workpiece is removed from the furnace.
EFFECT: invention ensures high degree of uniformity of cast chemical composition and minimizes energy consumption during melting.
