FIELD: medicine; biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to biotechnology, particularly to thrombocyte preservation. Method involves placing a composition containing thrombocytes in a gas mixture of 79–95 % xenon and 5–21 % oxygen and wherein the combined content of xenon and oxygen in said gas mixture is greater than 95 %. Further, said composition containing thrombocytes is preserved in the presence of said gas mixture during a first period of time and at a first temperature until, said xenon in said gas mixture does not saturate said composition containing thrombocytes to at least 60 % saturation, wherein said first temperature is higher than the freezing temperature of said composition. Further, cooling said composition containing thrombocytes, which is at least partially saturated with xenon, to a second temperature, wherein said second temperature is less than said first temperature, where said second temperature is higher than the freezing temperature of said composition, wherein pressure at said second temperature is not more than 5 bar; and holding said composition containing platelets at said second temperature for a second period of time, wherein said first period of time is less than said second period of time, and pH of said composition at said second temperature is not lower than 6.2.

EFFECT: invention enables to preserve thrombocytes for prolongation of their life more than 5 days.
