FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to passive radio vision systems operating on the principle of a stereo pair. In order to calculate distances, knowledge of mutual orientation of two coordinate systems is required – a matrix for turning axes of coordinates, which is found from the condition of coplanarity of conjugate direction vectors on objects and a base vector. Disclosed method consists in establishing a stereo pair of two mutually observers spaced-apart to base distance at a known base vector, forming, in observer coordinate systems, n pairs of interfaced unit vectors a1(i) and a2(i) vectors of directions to centers of i-th objects, finding matrix P of coordinates axes rotation on angles α, β, γ numerical method of selecting angles, wherein by means of found matrix P and known vector t estimates of distances r1(i) and r2(i), spatial coordinates of objects centers in coordinate systems of observers are calculated on the basis of found distances.
EFFECT: proposed method makes it possible to additionally check for the fulfillment of a sufficient conjugation condition the vectors tested for coplanarity and at the same time determine the distances to objects.
