SUBSTANCE: invention relates to spectrometry. Corona discharge ionisation source comprises a thin wire comprising a core containing a first material and a shell containing a second material, the wire envelope enclosing a portion of the wire strand while the diameter of the conductor shell is larger than that of the conductor. Besides, thin wire can be connected to mounting holder, which is made with possibility of providing mechanical support of electric connection. Method of producing a corona discharge ionisation source involves forming a wire core, forming a wire sheath surrounding the core, forming a masking layer on at least part of the wire sheath, etching the wire sheath and removing the masking layer from the wire sheath.

EFFECT: technical result is improved reliability of thin wire attachment.
