SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a capsule for preparation of a beverage in a brewing machine, wherein the capsule has a capsule cup filled with an extractable material, with a substantially square base and capsule lid covering capsule shell, characterized by that it comprises at least one first optically readable code based on cup capsule, which has two-dimensional arrangement of several first code elements, each of which contains information from which can be uniquely extracted information on one from several possible directions of code in base plane. Invention also relates to a system having a capsule and a corresponding brewing machine, and to a method of identifying such a capsule.
EFFECT: disclosed are a beverage capsule, a beverage preparation system and a beverage capsule identification method.
