SUBSTANCE: road surface milling machine includes a frame and a milling drum installed with possibility of rotation relative to the frame. Main drive unit of the milling drum is functionally connected to the milling drum and is intended for imparting rotary motion to the milling drum, and the ground-engaging unit of the drive is designed to drive and move the road milling machine over the roadway surface. Upper end part of the lifting column is connected to the frame, the lower end part of the lifting column is connected to the ground-engaging unit of the drive. Lifting column includes linear actuator, which can be actuated for lifting and lowering frame of road milling machine in relation to road surface. Sensor connected to the lifting column is designed to determine if the lifting column does not take up part of the weight of the road milling machine, which is a reliable indicator that the milling drum does not take any part of the weight of the road milling machine. Controller is functionally connected with main assembly of milling drum drive and with sensor. Controller is designed to receive signal from sensor, indicating that lifting column does not take part of road milling machine weight, which is a reliable indicator that the milling drum does not take any part of the weight of the road milling machine, and when receiving such a signal is intended to supply a command to stop the rotation of the milling drum.
EFFECT: disclosed is a road milling machine milling drum locking system.
