SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biochemistry, in particular to a method for producing renal progenitor cells from mesodermal intermediate cells, comprising culturing mesoderm intermediate cells in a medium containing TGFβ signal activator(s) and a BMP inhibitor(s). Also disclosed is a method of producing renal progenitor cells from induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells, also comprising culturing cells in a medium containing a TGFβ signal transmission activator(s) and a BMP inhibitor(s).
