SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the vehicles. In the engine control method, corrections are made for the cam angle based on two air charge estimates for updating the measured cam angle, which correspond to the air-fuel ratio errors under the selected conditions. Estimates of air charge are obtained simultaneously based on said error of air-fuel ratio based on measured air-fuel ratio. One of the two air charge estimates is based on the position of the cam perturbed angle. In other cases, errors in the amount of air and fuel supplied are obtained, which correspond to errors in the air-fuel ratio, and the operating parameter of the engine is adjusted based on the updated value of measuring the angle of the cam.
EFFECT: eliminating errors in calibration of phases of cam distribution.
