FIELD: road traffic.
SUBSTANCE: front view camera module (1) and millimeter range radar (2) obtain front direction information for the considered vehicle (A) to determine that pedestrian (B) is present in the front direction of the considered vehicle (A). When possible version (B') of pedestrian is detected in front direction of considered vehicle (A) on the basis of image signal from front view camera module (1), area (C) for determination of coincidence is set with position of detected possible variant (B') of pedestrian as central point. When position of object (D1), which is closest to possible version (B') of pedestrian, from plurality of objects (D1, D2, D3) detected by reflected waves from millimeter range radar (2), is in area (C) for determining matches, thereby establishing a match, a possible version (B') of a pedestrian is defined as a pedestrian (B).
EFFECT: improved recognition of pedestrians.
