SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and apparatus for controlling movement for a vehicle. Method of controlling movement for a vehicle comprises steps of indicating a pedestrian crossing as a target pedestrian crossing, detecting a road configuration near the target pedestrian crossing, motion line of a moving object is evaluated based on a road configuration, an area is defined as a detection area of a detector which detects an object next to the vehicle in question. Detecting a moving object in the detection area using the detector, controlling movement of the vehicle in question based on the detection result of the detector, moving distance is calculated based on moving speed of moving object and specific area is determined in area of estimated line of motion in road configuration as detection area. Motion control device comprises a detector configured to detect a surrounding object, and a controller configured to control the movement of the vehicle in question based on the detection result of the detector.
