SUBSTANCE: use for high-accuracy measurement of interface position of two substances. Essence of the invention is that the method of measuring the interface position of two substances in a reservoir, in which, in a container with substances, one above the other, forming a flat horizontal interface, vertically placing two identical sections of the coaxial long line, filled with media in accordance with their location in the reservoir, exciting in sections of long line electromagnetic oscillations at different resonance frequencies ƒ1 and ƒ2, which correspond to different standing wave electromagnetic field distributions along the long line sections data, and these resonant frequencies are measured depending on the two substances in the reservoir interface boundary position coordinate, in addition, between parallel outer conductors of coaxial long line sections as in a section of a two-wire line, from its upper end, method comprises probing substances with electromagnetic video signals, receiving, at the upper end of said section of a two-wire line, video signals reflected from its lower end, total time of their forward and reverse propagation is measured and joint functional transformation is performed ƒ1, ƒ2 and t, result of which does not depend on values of electrophysical parameters of both substances, which form interface boundary.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of measuring position of interface of two substances in reservoir.
