FIELD: measuring technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measuring technology and can be used to determine the position of the interface between two dielectric media located in a tank one above the other and forming a flat interface, in particular two immiscible liquids with different densities, regardless of the values of the permittivity of both media. In the method for measuring of the position of the interface between two dielectric media in the tank, in which three sections of a long line are placed vertically, electromagnetic oscillations are excited on the sections of a long line at the resonant frequencies f1, f2 and f3, the values f1, f2 and f3 are measured depending on the z coordinate of the position of the interface between two media in the tank, the sections of a long line are performed with terminal fixed horizontal sections of different lengths and the same load reactance at the ends of these horizontal sections, abruptly filled with media and emptied when media enter the tank and are removed from it, respectively, and a joint functional transformation of f1, f2 and f3 is performed according to the appropriate ratio.
EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of measurements.
