SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for controlling emission of hazardous substances of a vehicle. Car exhaust emission control method (200) to achieve the desired coefficient comprises first step (202) for determining the moving average of the emissions for the current traffic conditions, second step (204) for comparing the moving average of the emission values with a predetermined threshold value and third step (206) for controlling the operation of the engine and/or the exhaust gas toxicity control system to maintain the combined moving average of the emissions at or below a predetermined threshold value and thereby achieving the desired coefficient of conformity.

EFFECT: technical result is creation of method, in which suitable coefficients of compliance would be achieved for qualifying drive cycles, but which would not affect emissions and efficiency under normal conditions of motion.
