FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: selected for selective deactivation of combination of cylinders, comprising total number of deactivated/active cylinders, as well as number of individual deactivated cylinders, can be controlled by engine soot load or by parameter carrying information about engine soot load, such as temperature of engine coolant. Besides, in order to increase temperatures of combustion surfaces, reactivated cylinders can be operated with fractional fuel injection for a short period of time.
EFFECT: methods and systems are provided to reduce emissions of solid particles in an engine configured to work with ignition passes in cylinders.
