FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, particularly, to production of cemented carbide or cermet for fabrication of rotary tools subjected to wear. Powder is prepared which contains metal carbide(s), binding metal(s), one or more dispersing agents and, optionally, metal nitride(s), mixing the powdery composition in a vacuum. At least one organic binder is added to the powdered composition and mixed in a vacuum, after which temperature is raised to a predetermined value and maintained for a predetermined time until melting of the organic binder. Thereafter, the mixture is molded and sintered. Microstructure of cemented carbide or cermet does not contain clusters of hard metal grains, having diameter > 5-fold average grain size of solid metal.
EFFECT: obtaining a product having a homogeneous microstructure, high tensile strength, hardness, fracture toughness and/or wear resistance.
