FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, particularly to dentistry and is intended for use in dentistry in diagnosing for determination of chewing efficiency of tooth-jaw system. Total area of occlusal contacts of dentures is determined by digital method. Imprints of the antagonizing teeth of the occlusal contacts are obtained by an extraoral indirect method by closing the mounted in the individually tuned articulator of the jaw gypsum models in the position of habitual occlusion of the dental arches with 8–20 mcm of articulation paper laid between them and tracing paper. Further, the obtained image of the occlusal contact prints is scanned, and then the total area of the occlusal contacts impressions is calculated by means of the computer software.

EFFECT: method enables accurate and objective determination of chewing efficiency of the tooth-jaw system at the diagnostic stage and after the treatment, by obtaining impressions of occlusal contacts on plaster models of jaws mounted in the articulator in the position of habitual occlusion.
