SUBSTANCE: essence of the invention consists in the fact that highly productive selection samples are selected according to the maximum index of plants productivity index (PPI), which is determined in the phase of full maturing along the length of ear, number of grains in ear and mass of grain from ear, by formula: PPI=(GN×VG)/EL, where GN is the number of grains, pcs; VG – mass of grain from ear, g; EL – ear length, cm.
EFFECT: method enables to select most productive genotypes within a relatively short period of time.
