FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device and method for protection of zone of gas-powder laser welding deposition of metals from environment (versions). Device comprises a protective cap installed on the nozzle head edge. Protective cap is made in the form of a box with possibility of adjusting the value of process gap from lower edge of box to processed surface of article. Lower parts of all four walls of the box are not rigidly attached to each other at corners and are made with possibility of turning the box outside at angle of 90 degrees, forming horizontal shelves at turn. Lower parts have the possibility of turning inside the box by an angle, the value of which is limited by the transverse size of the processed article.

EFFECT: invention widens technological capabilities of protecting processed metal articles from environmental effects and widens the range of processed different-dimensional flat and bulk metal articles, note here that low content of oxygen in weld zone does not exceed 0,1 %.
