FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrochromic devices. Device comprises: a substrate; an electrochromic layer placed on a substrate or on top of the substrate, where said electrochromic layer comprises a cathode-toned electrochromic material; and a counter-electrode layer also placed on the substrate or on top of the substrate. Said counter-electrode layer comprises (a) a first sublayer comprising a first anodically toned material, and (b) a second sublayer comprising a second anodically toned material. First and second anodically toned materials have different compositions, but each contains an oxide of at least one transition metal, wherein the first sublayer lies between the electrochromic layer and the second sublayer.
EFFECT: invention provides improved optical properties of the device and its service life.
