SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy. Method of determining the metal level of a calm bath of a converter involves measurement of the melt level using microwave technology after the blowdown and the lining level of the converter bottom after draining the slag. Before measurement of level of lining of converter bottom lining level is further measured after drain of metal of converter and according to measured by regression analysis method is calculated communication equation Hmod=0.197921+0.960706Hs+m-0.6377Hs+0.668Hbot, where 0.197921 is a free member; 0.960706; 0.6377 – coefficients, Hs+m is melt level, Hs – slag level, Hbot is the bottom level of the converter bottom lining. Medium square deviation between the level of the metal of the calm bath of the converter, calculated by the model, and the level of the metal of the calm bath of the converter, with the measured tube, is 0.04 m or 0.5 %.
EFFECT: high accuracy of determining the metal level of a calm converter bath.
