FIELD: defectoscopy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of controlling integrity of rail threads. In method, current flowing on rail drives EMF in receiving coil, rail line is supplied from tone frequency generator, mobile generator is installed on movable unit and connected to low-resistance buses with coal brushes, which rub against tires of wheelsets of different carriages of one movable unit, current from generator via low-resistance buses, brushes and bandages of wheel pairs is closed along rail between wheel pairs, above which receiving coils are arranged; above the rail head there are two pairs of receiving coils, the first of which is placed on one coordinate, but different parts of the rail head – left and right, the second – on different coordinates at distance of 1–2 m, coils of each pair are connected in opposition; in case of rail damage, which creates asymmetry of current in rails, i.e. channel of current flow is shifted to left or right part of rail – head and foot, resulting EMF in first pair of coils, which, when threshold value is exceeded, indicates a rail break in plane perpendicular to train movement; in case of rail damage, which creates asymmetry of current in rails, i.e. flow channel of current is shifted to upper or lower part of rail, resulting EMF in second pair of receiving coils, which, if the threshold value is exceeded, indicates a rail break in the plane parallel to the train movement, such situation occurs if one of the coils is located above the rail fracture point, the other one – over the sound rail.
EFFECT: higher reliability of rail thread integrity monitoring.
