FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to mining machines. Mining machine comprises carcass, drive, cutting drum supported by carcass, wherein cutting drum is engaged with drive, cutter connected with cutting drum, and controller with processor and storage device. Controller is configured to measure drive characteristic, determine resultant cutting force, determining the performance of the mining machine, determining that the cutter is worn, based on the measured drive characteristic, the resultant cutting force and the performance of the mining machine, and outputting the signal when it is determined that the cutter is worn out.
EFFECT: technical result is preservation of process equipment, longer service life of mining machine.
