FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to methods of producing titanium alloys. Titanium alloy is obtained by adding TiCl4 to the incoming mixture at temperature of the first reaction. Part of Ti4+ in TiCl4 is reduced to Ti3+ to form a first reaction product. Incoming mixture contains aluminium and, possibly, AlCl3 and/or, possibly, at least one halogenide of alloying element. After stopping the addition of TiCl4, the first reaction product is heated under drying conditions to complete reduction of Ti4+ or to remove remaining TiCl4 to form a first intermediate mixture. First intermediate mixture is a solution of a salt based on AlCl3, which contains Ti3+, wherein Ti3+ in the first intermediate mixture is in form of TiCl3 (AlCl3)x, where x is greater than 0–10. First intermediate mixture is heated to second reaction temperature. Part of Ti3+ is reduced to the second intermediate mixture, which is a solution of AlCl3 based salt, which contains Ti2+. Additionally, the second intermediate mixture is heated to the temperature of the third reaction, wherein Ti2+ forms a titanium alloy by a disproportionation reaction.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain titanium alloy materials by improved processing techniques of the titanium tetrachloride reduction reaction in AlCl3 based reaction media.
