SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in fuel supply systems of internal combustion engines (ICE). Invention covers systems and methods for operation of direct-injection fuel pump. In one embodiment, the system comprises accumulator 340 located coaxially inside the cylinder of the fuel injection pump, wherein the accumulator is located downstream of the electromagnetic check valve 312. Accumulator can control pressure in compression chamber 378 of the direct-injection fuel pump and in the high-pressure fuel rail 250 when the direct-injection fuel pump operates in standard pressure mode.
EFFECT: invention allows improving performance of a direct injection fuel pump and prolonging its operation.
