SUBSTANCE: invention refers to biotechnology and medicine, namely to a protein-peptide complex and a pharmacological composition for preventing and treating retinal diseases of the human eye and farm animals. Protein-peptide complex is obtained by reacting equimolecular amounts of a mixture of regulatory peptides with molecular weights of 1,000–6,000 Da or a regulatory peptide with a molecular weight of 4372 Da and serum albumin with molecular weights of 66,362–66,898 Da, recovered from pigmented epithelium of the eyes of vertebrates. Pharmacological composition contains a protein-peptide complex and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
EFFECT: protein-peptide complex described above and a pharmacological composition containing a protein-peptide complex have a protective effect on the state of tissues of the posterior sector of the eye - pigment epithelium, neural retina, sclera, choroid, which is manifested in maintaining the adhesion, polypheraphy and differentiation status of pigment cells, as well as in maintaining the viability of bipolar cells and Muller glia in the retina.
