FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: method of localization of non-tight valves of a gas-distributing mechanism of 4-stroke automobile ICE is based on visual observation of smoke output from candle openings of two control cylinders at injection of smoke into combustion chamber of the diagnosed cylinder. Numbers of the control cylinders location for the leakage control respectively through the inlet and outlet valves of the diagnosed cylinder are determined simply, quickly and accurately by calculation, which is universal for ICE of any series with number of cylinders 3÷12, any order of numbering cylinders and any order of their operation.

EFFECT: disclosed is a method of localization of non-tight valves of a gas-distributing mechanism.
