SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to medicine and concerns a method for detecting spatial proximity of the first and second protein epitopes or the first and second proteins of a protein complex in a patient's sample involving binding a first antibody or an antibody fragment having a first oligonucleotide conjugated to it, with a first epitope, binding a second antibody or antibody fragment having a second oligonucleotide conjugated to it with a second epitope, and determining whether a resonant fluorescence energy transfer effect is present, wherein the first oligonucleotide is at least partially complementary to the second oligonucleotide, the first oligonucleotide is initially provided with a first separate protective element and/or the second oligonucleotide is initially provided with a second separate protective element. Group of inventions also relates to a method of stratifying a patient suffering from a disease, to assess fitness of treatment, where treatment is directed to a signalling path; kit for implementing said methods.

EFFECT: group of inventions provides high sensitivity of spatial proximity detection of first and second epitopes.
