FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and can be used for hot forming of workpiece in form of shaft with gear at end. Punching is carried out in a die containing a holder with upper and lower crosswise openings, which envelopes the matrix with the shaping cavity. Cage and the matrix are provided with cooling channels located between their side surfaces. Matrix has transverse openings extending to the beginning of matrix forming cavity. During process cycle of initial workpiece forging, coolant is continuously supplied through lower transverse opening of cartridge into cooling channels. Part of the heated coolant is discharged through the upper crosswise opening of the cartridge beyond the die. Remainder of heated coolant through matrix transverse openings, not closed by initial billet or billet in form of shaft with gear at end, is supplied to beginning of forming cavity of matrix.
EFFECT: result is higher matrix resistance.
