FIELD: lighting.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a light-emitting diode (LED) lighting device and a method for driving a LED lighting device. Result is achieved by the fact that LED lighting device (1) comprises LED load (10) containing a certain number of LEDs (100); input contacts (14hi, 14lo) for connection with power supply (2) configured to supply input voltage (UPS) at primary input voltage level (VPS); voltage rise module (11) configured to increase input voltage (UPS) to a level higher than the level (VPS) of the primary input voltage based on input signal (30) of the light intensity adjustment level; and a light intensity control module (12) configured to reduce the current (ILED) of the LEDs through LED load (10) when the boosted input voltage (Uboost) exceeds the (VPS) of the primary input voltage.

EFFECT: technical result is providing adjustment of light intensity of LEDs of lighting device.
