SUBSTANCE: invention relates to motion control method and equipment. Method of controlling movement for a vehicle, in which a certain target distance between vehicles is set from a plurality of given target distances between vehicles, and the vehicle in question is controlled to follow an automated or autonomous method on the path of the vehicle ahead. At that, the traffic control method includes the stage, when the trajectory with trailing movement mode changes from the switched-off state into the on state, the stage, at which the target distance between the vehicles between the considered vehicle is set and the vehicle ahead is equal to a relatively small value from among the specified values. Motion control equipment for a vehicle comprises a controller configured to set a target distance between vehicles and to control the movement of the vehicle in question so as to follow an automated or autonomous method along the path of the vehicle ahead.
