FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in vehicle internal combustion engines. Method for controlling a vehicle engine in a fuel shutdown mode during deceleration (FSD) involves that throttle position is regulated in engine air intake actuating vehicle in compliance with vehicle driver commands. In mode (FSD), degree of throttle opening is increased regardless of said commands of vehicle driver in case of fall or expected fall of vehicle speed below required speed or required speed trajectory. Invention discloses version of control method of vehicle engine in mode of fuel shutdown at deceleration and system for vehicle engine control in mode of fuel shutdown at deceleration.

EFFECT: technical result consists in reduction of fuel consumption and provision of engine braking, which is a result of friction resistance and negative torque transmitted to engine by corresponding consumer.
